Managing Document Metadata
You can create and apply custom metadata values to a form. This helps organize and identify your various form documents. You can also create, change or remove existing metadata values.
Tip | In addition to metadata, Studio also classifies documents using classes and projects. |
To manage document metadata
- From the Documaker tab, click Properties.
- In Document Properties, click the Metadata tab.
The Available Metadata dialog opens, displaying the metadata items currently assigned to this document and their values in a table format.
- Complete any of the following steps:
- To create or change a metadata value, click the table cell under the Value column, and enter a new value. For naming conventions, see The New Metadata Dialog.
- To remove a metadata item from the list of Available Metadata, click anywhere in the row of the metadata item you want to delete, then click the remove button
. (This action does not delete the metadata item but simply removes it from this list.)
- To add a metadata item that does not appear on the table, complete the next step.
- To add a metadata item that does not appear on the table:
- Click the ellipsis button

- In the Available Metadata dialog, click the metadata item you want to apply to this document. If you need to create a metadata item, complete the next step.
- To create a metadata item, click
. Enter the Name for this metadata item, then click OK. For naming conventions, see The New Metadata Dialog. The metadata is added to the list in the Metadata tab.
- Click OK when done.
